John A Clark

Professor of Computer and Information Security, University of Sheffield

He was previously Professor of Critical Systems at the University of York and a Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award Holder. His research work is predominantly in the area of machine learning and dependable systems (safety, security, reliability). His work is cited over 9600 times. He has worked in quantum related areas: quantum stack optimisation [8]; efficiencies of quantum simulation [9]; fundamentals of NMR pulse sequences (with quantum chemists) [10] (winner of a Bronze medal and $2000 in the Human Competitive Awards at GECCO 2013); quantum algorithm synthesis (also winning a silver medal and $1000 at GECCO 2006) [11,12]; and quantum relevant quantum algorithm synthesis reviews [13]. He has provided consultancy on dependability to HMG (CESG,MoD) and industry (e.g. Rolls Royce and BAe Systems)
