Deputy Head of School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Queen’s University Belfast

I am Deputy Head of School in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EEECS) at Queen’s University Belfast. My research focusses on programmable hardware for high speed data processing, including algorithm/architecture co-design, hardware architectures and synthesis; quantum and hybrid quantum/classical computing and transpilation; signal processing systems. I also lead my university’s Computing Systems research cluster which addresses 13 architecture, runtime, systems and algorithm research for high performance, cloud, edge and embedded systems and emerging computing paradigms (e.g. quantum). I was Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee (TC) on Design & Implementation of Signal Processing Systems (DISPS) in 2020 and founding Chair of the IEEE TC on Applied Signal Processing Systems in 2021. I am Editor-in-Chief of Springer’s Journal of Signal Processing Systems, Associate Editor of IEEE Open Journal Circuits & Systems and former Editor of IEEE Trans. Signal Processing. I was an affiliated researcher at INSA Rennes for 4 years. My work has been sponsored by UKRI, InvestNI, National Instruments, Keysight Technologies, the UK National Quantum Technology hub and Selex, amongst others. I am a co-founder of Analytics Engines Ltd.
